Vegetarian Gardening in Tropical Climates

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By Michael Russell Perhaps the best way to have a healthy, vegetarian diet is to grow as much of your own food as possible. This ensures that you know that no insecticides have been used on the plants. You are also able to grow particular favorites which are not available in the local market. Vegetarians in the tropics or almost-tropics are presented with both a tremendous opportunity for a bonanza of healthy crops as well as a challenge. Anyone who is accustomed to having glorious vegetable gardens in northern regions will initially find that warm-climate gardening can be challenging. Many transplanted gardeners give up in frustration after a few failed attempts. However, your southern garden can surpass the one you left behind, but it requires rethinking how and when you plant. You need to know when, how and what to plant. Instead of one crop a year, two are now possible. You can have both a spring and fall/winter harvest. The key is timing. You can check with your local County Extension Service or local Garden Club for advice. You can also notice when the commercial growers plant their fields. Chatting with growers selling produce at a local farmer’s market can also be helpful. A local garden supply store may also be a good source of information. In regions such as central and southern Florida, summer is the hardest time to grow vegetables. It’s too hot and humid, stressing plants and increasing disease and insect problems. Many commercial growers leave their fields fallow during summer months. Your best chance at success is to follow the same planting schedule as the growers who do it for a living. Next take a hard look at your soil. If it is very sandy, with few plant nutrients. You will need to add organics to the soil (composted manure). The sandy nature of the soil causes the organics dissipate, so add more as needed. A good organic vegetable fertilizer will also be very helpful. Nematodes may also be a problem. They are parasitic, microscopic roundworms which attack the roots of plants. While they do not normally kill the plants, they do cause stunted growth and decreased yields. The most effective treatment is simply leaving the ground fallow (unplanted) between crops. Without a food source, the number of nematodes in the soil decreases dramatically. Knowing what to plant is also critical to growing a flourishing garden. Seeds for seed crops (radishes, carrots, lettuce etc.) can be obtained either locally or from online suppliers. Generally, the online seed suppliers will have a greater variety. It’s important to look for varieties designed for your region. You will find lettuces that will tolerate more heat without bolting, root crops more nematode-resistant and tomatoes, peppers and eggplants more resistant to various diseases. A sturdy plant adapted to the region will be able to provide a bountiful crop and be less bothered by insect pests. Getting the plants that you set out (tomatoes, peppers and eggplants especially) can be more challenging. Local garden suppliers are more likely to have them available for planting at the right time for your local region. They are also more likely to have varieties adapted for the local area. Chain suppliers are less likely to be a good source for varieties adapted to the local climate and may not have them available at the best time to plant. Growing your own plants from seed is a good choice. You can have the most fabulous garden you have ever had, with the most luscious tomatoes, abundant peppers, glossy eggplants, large leafy greens and herbs and flowers blooming almost all year. You can have those specialty crops that you never see in the market for the most delicious vegetarian meals you have ever enjoyed. Michael Russell Your Independent Vegetarian guide. Loans For Unemployed - when your personal economy slumps during difficult times

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Amanda_Thompson]Amanda Thompson The latest IDS figures for unemployment the claimant count measure of unemployment rose by 8,100 by April 2005 to stand at 839,400 (a rate of 2.7 per cent). Unemployment is unforeseeable, yet very prevalent. Job loss is one of the most trying time period of ones life. Everybody has gone through that phase at least once. The one thing every unemployed knows is that unemployment doesnt pay bills. It becomes more and more difficult to cope with unemployment with the increasing financial pressures. And financial urgencies are like right then and there, just waiting to pounce upon you at the worst time. Since all roads seem blocked, I would want to tell you there is still one road to monetary relief. Shall we walk on it? It is named loans for unemployed. Your bills are continuously gyrating while some money requirement could be just waiting to knock on your door. It is a cluttered situation. Be realistic in estimating your job prospects and whether you are looking for a few months solution or a year solution. It will enable you to make a logical application for your unemployment loan. Loans for the unemployed are not that frequently laid down on a platter. Every loan eventually boils down to the question of repayment. Usually loans lenders take job as the criteria of your ability to repay loan without default. However, unemployed with substantial assets would find it fairly superior chance to qualify for loans for unemployed. Loan lenders will make an offer to an unemployed loans borrower and wont even press for documentation if the borrower makes a sizeable down payment. This down payment is usually 25% or more. A home equity line of credit can provide financial guarantee for the unemployed. There is two way to draw on the equity of your home. You can get a home equity loan which is a lump sum and paid back in some specified time. Or an unemployed can take a home equity line of credit which is like a credit card with revolving balance. You draw against it when you want, like using a credit card, and as you repay the balance, the credit becomes available again. A home equity line of credit or HELOCs can be very accommodating in case of periodic expenses. Basic necessities are easily fulfilled with the help of line of credit during unemployment period. This will enable the unemployed to get those increasing credit cards bills to rest. Debt consolidation loans for unemployed are also accessible. Debt consolidation will make it easier for the unemployed to regulate their debts and also considerably lower the rate of interest. As an unemployed you can go to a debt management firm. Debt management firm can get your creditors to reduce your interest rates and also to relinquish any late fees. However, talk to more than one firm before you settle on which debt consolidation or management firm to settle. The debt management firm in question should be sympathetic to your unemployment status and ready to do the hard work for you. Unemployed tenant loans are also readily accessible. Loan lenders are willing to give loan to tenants to those have little or no income. An unemployed who is on income supports, benefits, or disability allowance then this incomes will be counted as total declared income. A flexible unsecured loan would be appropriate for unemployed tenants. Flexible loans for unemployed would be ideal for they have stand by facility, holiday period or overdraft. This will ensure repayment to be made at later time without any severe penalties implemented against you. This is perhaps the last thing you would want in your already taut financial condition. Student can apply for under the unemployed loans scheme. A recent survey has found that the people are more worried about their debt than about any other situation. Unemployed loans help college student to get ample money for their education requirements. Personal loans for unemployed have both the ability and the proficiency to match their expectations and requirements. An unemployed consumer seeking a personal loan should search for a repayment plan that can be stretched out overtime. Opting for this type of loan can circumvent the chance of biting off more personal loan than one can afford while they are looking for a new employment opportunity. Unemployment may be by choice but rarely economically rewarding. Nevertheless, it is a temporary situation. It wont last. But without financial support how long can one survive unemployment? Loans can solve the problem of scarcity of funds. You can find a loan for every condition on the net. Undoubtedly, you can! And what do you type on your search page? Unemployed loans. Bad Credit Loan for Self Employed - For the Cause of Serving Self Employed

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christian_Phelps]Christian Phelps Bad credit for a self employed person is like adding fuel to an already ignited fire. Self employment itself is considered a bad credit for the purposes of lending. Bad credit history, which constitutes of County Court Judgements, Individual Voluntary Arrangements, and bankruptcy, further puts the lenders in a defensive mode. They often refuse loans to the self employed people. Alternatively, the loans lent to the self employed people are unreasonably termed, with the intention that borrowers will themselves back out from the loan deal. But, do borrowers really back out through refusals or unreasonably termed loans? No! The need for funds pushes the self employed people to accede to the terms of the loan. However, there is bad credit loan for self employed instead, which can be used by them to raise funds more advantageously. Bad credit loans for self employed people are advanced by lenders who are more considerate to the borrowers who have underwent bad credit. These lenders are known as sub prime lenders. Bad credit loans for self employed carry a moderate risk and these sub prime lenders are ready to take up the risk. What these lenders do is cover the risk involved in the self employed loans by slightly differing the terms of the loan to suit them. The difference in terms is what distinguishes bad credit self employed loans from the other regular loans and forms its principal feature. You can hope to get a sizable amount through regular loans. However, this is not true with bad credit loans for self employed. Lenders will not lend more. Thereby, they cover themselves against the risk originating. So, if you are thinking of paying large expenses through the loan proceeds, then you will be disappointed. Online loan quote, offered by online loan providers is a fast and convenient method of knowing how much does one qualify for under the loan deal. Online loan quote is an offer by the loan provider to the borrower. When borrower fills the self employed loan quote on the Internet along with his personal details and loan details, lender responds by forwarding the loan quote. The loan quote has, besides the approximate amount of bad credit loans for self employed, details regarding rate of interest, interest options, repayment options, prepayment, etc. Through loan quote, one can compare well between different loan providers. Another important feature of bad credit loans for self employed is that the rate of interest that borrower has to pay is higher. Since the degree of risk involved in the venture is higher, borrower cannot escape from paying higher APR. However, they can escape paying unreasonably high APRs through proper check. When using online loan calculator, borrowers can very easily compare between several loan providers operating in the UK. Self employed may often qualify for a flexible loan. A flexible loan is one where borrower does not have to make fixed monthly repayments every time. They can overpay, underpay, or not pay at all. This feature goes well with the finances of self employed. The self employed do not get a fixed salary. They are running their own operations and the profit is what constitutes their income. The profit however is not stable. In some months they may be able to bring home a sizable sum as profits. In another months, they would have to go without anything. They would thus not be able to sustain the fixed monthly payments. Through a flexible repayment schedule, the self employed borrowers can easily integrate loan payments to their unstable financial structure. Certain loan providers offer bad credit loans for self employed with the feature of self-certification. Self-certification is a feature wherein borrowers have to themselves certify their income. This will come as a big advantage for the self employed who are incapable of proving their income. In all aspects, bad credit loans for self employed are the best that the self employed people could hope to get. Debt consolidation loan is the financial support you are looking for, to pay off your debts and make your life better and enjoyable. The other option is a variable rate which changes with changes with fluctuations in the market. You can choose among these options as per your affordability. Interesting Idea For Event Marketing

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

By Calvin Warr Most of us would have attended numerous corporate events, product launches and press conferences. Most of the time, it is with the feeling of same old, same old when we go for such events. It is always a challenge for marketers to find new and interesting ways to keep the jaded crowd happy. We all need interesting hooks to make the event more memorable. Rather than Oh, yeah, I think I attended Product X launch or Press conference? I think I was there. We want them to say Yes! Wasnt that a great event!? We want our events to be the talk of the town. We want the extra mileage of the viral-ness of it! Like, hey, be there or be square! Yep. Easier said than done, huh? Before I continue, for those smiling cynically at our nonsensical ranting, let me just say that if we had YOUR million dollar budget, we sure as heck would do a much better job! So there! OK, back to our idea. I would like to share a very simple idea with all of you and I hope this is valuable and adds value to you and your clients. It is a simple idea and it has to do with PRESS BADGES. Know those things? Big ugly thing that says PRESS? What if you dont use them? We cannot leave our VIP guests unidentified. At the same time, we do not want them to feel like meat on the supermarket shelves, tagged and branded. But badges are so, well, boring. My idea is simply this, make use of your theme to create the identification. I need to elaborate. Everyone knows that it is important to tag the people present. But the simple name tag is ugly and most people shove it into their pockets or bag at the first opportunity. Sort of defeats the purpose, doesnt it? But what if, it were part of the entire event? Example time! If you are say, doing an opening for a Western Grill restaurant or a Cowboy Emporium, use the theme to create the identity. There are many ways to do this. The most obvious is the cowboy hat. With names of the person on the band and each hat or band color coded to identify if the wearer is a VIP Guest, Member of the Press, Staff, or gate crasher! But we can get more creative, cant we? How about a simple jacket with a WANTED poster on the back, with the NAME and PROFESSION of the wearer? Done well, this little giveaway can even become a cherished item that the Guest will gladly bring back instead of throwing away at the nearest bin outside. This by no means exhaust the possibilities. But I hope that it has given you an idea of what I mean by using the theme to create the identity rather than falling back to boring old name tags! Some Tips For The Safe Use of Cell Phones And Batteries

Friday, January 25th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Chileshe_Mwape]Chileshe Mwape 1. Increase the life span of your cell phone and battery by following the manufacturers directions for using the phone and charging the battery. 2. Do not use incompatible cell phone batteries and chargers. Some Web sites and second-hand dealers, not associated with reputable manufacturers and carriers, might be selling incompatible or even counterfeit batteries and chargers. 3. You should purchase manufacturer or carrier recommended products and accessories wherever possible. If unsure about whether a replacement battery or charger is compatible, contact the manufacturer of the battery or charger. 4. Do not permit a battery out of the phone to come in contact with metal objects, such as coins, keys or jewellery. 5. Do not crush, puncture or put a high degree of pressure on the battery as this can cause an internal short-circuit, resulting in overheating. 6. Avoid dropping the cell phone. Dropping it, especially on a hard surface, can potentially cause damage to the phone and battery. If you suspect damage to the phone or battery, take it to a service center for inspection. 7. Do not place the phone in areas that may get very hot, such as on or near a cooking surface, cooking appliance, iron, or radiator. 8. Do not get your phone or battery wet. Even though they will dry and appear to operate normally, the circuitry could slowly corrode and pose a safety hazard. 9. You should properly dispose of your old batteries and equipment. All major carriers have recycling programs. 10. Follow battery usage, storage and charging guidelines found in the users guide. 11. Find ways to reuse or recycle your phone and accessories when youre finished with them. Many companies recycle or reuse cell phones. 12. Pick a phone with features you need and a style you like so you will keep it longer. Copyright 2005. Budgeting to Live While You are Away at College

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

By Tracey Drake Budgeting to Live While at College Apart from tuition and books, living away from home during college can be expensive. Students will want to develop a budget and stick to it. College life can still be fun if you are frugal and smart with your money. Students may find that their biggest expense while going to school is actually food costs more than anything. First year college students that live on campus are generally required to purchase a meal plan. If you are forced to pay for it, then students should use it. Why pay for food when you it is already paid for? The next best thing a student can do is to get a small refrigerator and buy your own food. If you eat a lot of snack foods, buy them in bulk versus the convenience store or vending machine. You will pay a lot more for food at those stores. For students that enjoy coffee and bottled water, they can also buy that in bulk. Buying a $3 cup of coffee and a $1 bottle of water can be very expensive on a daily basis. Learn to cook simple meals on your hot plate in your dorm room. If you can boil water, then you can cook a lot of simple meals. Plan to go to the grocery store once a week and stick to your list. Dont waste money on extras that you dont really need. College life is not cheap and many parents are surprised at how expensive it is for students to live on their own even in a dorm room. Many students will have to get a part time job while they are attending school to pay for the necessities and food that they need on a daily basis. This will make a dramatic difference in the cost of living while at college. Students will need to learn to change their ways when they are living at home. Students may not be able to afford the same brand names that they used when they lived at home. Students that are working will need to figure out what they make on a weekly basis. They will need to assess their bills and what they need to make sure that they are paid. If students rent a house or an apartment, then they will have to assess the extra expenses they will incur. They will have to pay for utilities, their Internet, cable, cell phone, gas, insurance, car payment and any other expenses that they may have. They will then need to see how much money they can afford to spend on entertainment or shopping later. The students first priority should be to have their bills paid before they even think about spending money on entertainment and other activities. Many students do not realize how many bills they have until they are paying them all on their own. Going out and having fun is a part of college life and students will need social interaction. Students should get together with their friends and decide how they can all save money together. Students that enjoy eating out should invite friends over for pot-luck dinners and share in the expense of the meals. A good idea for students is to save half of their money and the other half they can use for entertainment purposes. Having a back-up plan while you are in college is an absolute must. Many students will apply for student loans and pay for their tuition and then spend the rest of the money frivolously. This is not a good idea, as unexpected events occur such as your car breaking down or your computer crashing. These are events that you will want to be sure that you have money in savings to pay for these events. Budgeting while in college will take a plan and dedication and students will have to be diligent about their finances. Students that are capable of saving money wisely will be successful while they are in college. GradResumes.com specializes in writing graduate resumes and college admission documents. The Practice of Homeopathy

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By Chris Chenoweth Homeopathy, a health practice that is holistic, has been around for over 200 years. It treats the whole person, not just the part that is injured or in pain. It is based on a system of treating like with like. Conventional medicine sees health as the absence of disease. If someone is not sick, then there is nothing wrong with the person. To someone who practices homeopathy (a homeopath), health is significantly more encompassing than that. In homeopathy, a healthy person is someone who is free on all levels, physical, emotional, and mental. If you suffer a broken bone, you are not free physically. If you suffer from depression, you are not free emotionally. If you suffer from memory loss, you are not free mentally. A homeopath will attempt to restore freedom on all of these levels. Homeopathy is a system that attempts to stimulate the body to heal itself. Whatever your ailment may be, a homeopath will use a remedy that stimulates the body to move in the direction it is already going. In that process, the ailment will be eliminated. All symptoms of an ailment, no matter how uncomfortable or miserable, actually represent the body’s attempt to restore itself to health. Instead of looking upon those symptoms as something wrong with the body, which is what conventional medicine does, the practice of homeopathy sees those symptoms as signs of the way the body is trying to heal itself. Instead of trying to stop or suppress whatever the ailment is, a homeopath will try a remedy that causes the ailment in the person, thus encouraging the body to heal itself. Conventional medicine will try to suppress the ailment. Homeopathy is a system that looks at the individual, not at the disease. We all suffer from an ailment in a unique way. However, conventional medicine assumes that the ailment is the same for all of us and prescribes the same drug for all. Homeopathy, however, searches for the one substance that will cure each individual case. Since each person expresses the ailment differently, each person needs a different remedy. Homeopathy is safe, gentle and extremely effective. HOW TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT REMEDY Since homeopathy relies on prescribing one remedy, all of your symptoms should be included in the determining process. Aside from the obvious nature of your ailment, there are many things that should be noticed and many questions that should be asked: *When did the symptoms first appear? *Where exactly is the problem located? *What makes the symptom feel worse? *What makes the symptom feel better? *What is the persons state of mind? Are there factors that could be causing the symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or fear? *What is the person sensitive to? (This can be physical, mental or emotional.) *What is the persons sleep pattern? HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINES Homeopathic medicines are substances made from plants, minerals, and animals. They are diluted carefully until little of the original substance remains. For example, one drop of the substance is mixed with one hundred drops of alcohol (a ratio of 1:100). The mixture is then shaken and labeled as 1C. One drop of this mixture is then mixed with another 100 drops of alcohol and the process is repeated to make a 2C and so on. Very small globules made from sugar are then soaked with the liquid dilution. These globules make up the homeopathic remedy. These infinitesimal doses not only work, they are extremely effective, working on humans and animals. Choosing a homeopathic remedy is based on the totality of symptoms present. Any remedy can be used for any condition if the symptoms that are generated by the remedy match the symptoms that are being experienced by the person. ADVANTAGES OF USING HOMEOPATHY *Homeopathy is natural, gentle, and safe and based on natural ingredients. *When the correct remedy is taken, results are complete and permanent. *There are no dangers to homeopathy. Remedies can be taken in conjunction with any other medicines without any side effects. *Unlike conventional medicines that can suppress the immune system, homeopathy works in harmony with the bodys immune system. *Homeopathy is holistic in nature. All symptoms are treated as one. Homeopathy requires more time and patience in determining what the correct remedy is. However, once you discover what the correct remedy is, the result will be a cure of the cause, not just a treatment of the symptoms. The right remedy can permanently cure what is ailing you. What to Wear to Interview?

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

By Sen Blo As a rule of thumb, dressing in a suit for an interview wouldn’t do you any harm. You must be able to capture the tailored look, but in a feminine manner. Double breasted in navy or black, perhaps softened with a scarf rolled under the collar, its a classic which will never be out of style. A good idea is to find some information regarding what other people in the office wear. If you think a suit will be too formal, maybe you could consider wearing a pants suit or just a good blazer and skirt. You may also consider to wear a coatdress because it is very tailored, but a little less formal than a suit. If, on the other hand, the place is very conservative, and they all wear dark suits all the time unless they are at a picnic, brown instead of gray could be a wrong choice. Shoes are very important. They don’t have to be trendy, just the best that you can afford and carefully polished. If you don’t own a decent bag to match, take one and just hide it behind your briefcase or portfolio. Hair style is important too. A pony tail is always nice if you have a good face for it - with a beautiful barrette. Use a nice makeup. Be sure your foundation matches your face. Don’t do anything that would cause one part of your face to stand out more. Wear a little something that makes all of the above you. Whether it’s a great lilac-colored shirt because the color’s so flattering on you, or grandma’s heirloom earrings. Sen blo invites you to meet celebrities hairstyles here.
